The BRIGHT ID'er requires caller id service from your local telephone company.  Caller ID data is presented between the 1st and 2nd ring, and displays for the first 20 seconds of the ring cycle.  It reverts to the digital clock (with month and day) between calls.  

With Smart~List 99, you get substantially more than a 99-call memory.  Telemarketer calls without numbers get recycled before all others.  You can erase single call entries, or all memory.

Between calls it displays the date and time, in 12 or 24-hour format, automatically reset with each incoming call.  There is also an un-reviewed call counter, so you can see if anyone called, even if they did not leave a message.  You can review or erase call memory.

The brightness can be adjusted to properly contrast with ambient lighting, in eight+steps.  Program options are entered from the main display by pressing all three buttons (left and two right buttons) within one second, then release.
